Bill Mohnacs of Parke Bank will be participating as a guest panelist on bank financing for new businesses and a “pitch judge” at the upcoming Veterans Entrepreneurial Jumpstart (VEJ) program at Saint Joseph’s University during the week of October 14-22, 2017 in Philadelphia.
These programs provide veterans with the opportunity to translate their skillset and military experience into a successful small business venture. The programs leverage the expertise of local entrepreneurs, small business owners, corporate executives, government and civic leaders, and the Haub School of Business faculty – all serving as guest speakers, lecturers, panelists, mentors and judges during the in-person residency period.
The challenge for veterans lies in their ability to find and enroll in business training that is specifically developed for veterans and that focuses on concepts and skills that translate into successful small business ownership. Programs help veterans realize their goals by providing professional education, mentorship, and business services at No Charge for veterans committed to small business ownership.
This nine-day residency exposes veterans to a broad training curriculum.
- Includes classroom discussions, guest lectures from successful entrepreneurs, and opportunities for experiential learning in topics such as: Business Planning; Finance and Accounting; Sales and Marketing; Time Management; Government Contracting; Legal; Operations; etc.
- One-on-one work with trained mentors enables veterans to further develop and refine their business plan
- A Venture Pitch competition is used to assess all business plan submissions where veterans present their venture plan to a panel of distinguished judges and receive direct feedback.
