IT Technical Service Specialist

The Technical services Specialist is part of the IT team who proactively maintains our computer environments by analyzing requirements, resolving problems, and installing hardware and software solutions.  You will need to be self-sufficient and frequently work independently, while also collaborating with our IT team and managed IT providers.  You will be responsible for onsite and remote installation and support for all technologies deployed by the Bank.  The Technical Services Specialist plays a vital role in the day-to day experience of our employees and Bank operations.


To ensure that end users are receiving the appropriate assistance.  This includes the responsibility related to the identification, prioritization, and resolution of end user help requests, as well as contributing to problem resolution by giving in-person, hands-on support to end users.


  • Help Desk:
    • Manage the processing of incoming calls to the Help Desk to ensure courteous, timely and effective resolution
    • Perform hands-on fixes at the desktop level, including installing and upgrading software, installing hardware, and configuring systems and applications
    • Monitor fixes to ensure problems have been adequately resolved
    • Attend training seminars to broaden knowledge of current and future Help Desk issues and technologies
    • Escalate issues to the MIT vendor and ensure user’s issues are adequately resolved
  • Hardware & Software:
    • Assist with maintaining inventory of company software and hardware assets
    • Research and make recommendations on software and hardware products and services
    • Where necessary, dispose of obsolete equipment
    • Proficient knowledge of Windows desktop and server OS
    • Proficient knowledge of Office 365, SharePoint, Teams, and OneDrive
    • Working knowledge of LAN and WAN
    • Working knowledge of MPLS circuits
    • Working knowledge of VOIP and general telephony
  • Vendors:
    • Work with vendors to ensure that the organizations interests, and needs are being met
    • Enforce vendor guidelines, obligations, and service level agreements to the organization
  • Systems & Network:
    • Administrator for all of the organizations systems. The duties include adds, changes and deletions of users
    • Administrator for the network. Including making adds, changes and deletions to Active Directory, Network folder and Exchange (O3656)
  • Compliance / Audit:
    • General understanding of aa financial institutions compliance and audit requirements
    • Assist with review and documentation of monthly reports
    • Document internal processes and procedures related to duties and responsibilities
    • Familiarity with information security practices and procedures


  • After hours or weekend work is sometime required
  • Perform any other work designated by supervisor
  • Ability to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 25lbs
  • A valid driver’s license and transportation in order to travel to satellite offices


  • College/university or technical degree and/or equivalent work experience
  • Strong verbal and written skills
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and manage duties and responsibilities
  • Strong understanding of the organizations’ goals and objectives
  • Ability to conduct research into a wide range of computing issues as required
  • Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language to non-technical staff and end users
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Experience in a banking environment a plus
